Education. Prevention. Rehabilitation.
The National Athletic Trainer Association defines athletic training as "encompassing the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an allied health care profession."Our certified athletic trainers provide medical coverage at Polk County High School sporting events. In addition, our on-site support allows for immediate assessment and care following sports injuries. St. Luke's Athletic Trainers are multi-skilled, licensed, and certified, professionals who render frontline services under the direction of doctors George Azar and Thomas Cadier at St. Luke's Orthopedic and Sports Medicine and following North Carolina's statutes, rules, and regulations. Frequently the first medical professionals on the scene after an injury, our athletic trainers provide primary care, injury and illness prevention, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
